A&R Consultants organised a careers fayre at Torre Church of England Academy for nearly 300 of its pupils on Friday 29th June 2018, supporting the school’s push to forge closer links with local businesses.
Nearly a dozen local businesses attended the careers fayre whereby children aged from five to eleven years old were invited to ask questions and talk to a variety of professionals about their careers, gaining invaluable advice and finding out about the various paths to success.
Mrs Sue Julyan, Headteacher of Torre Academy, said: “Raising our pupils’ aspirations and preparing them for the world of work is important to us at Torre. We are always working on character development as well as developing skills alongside teaching the curriculum. We want pupils to leave us as well-rounded, motivated individuals as well as having met age-related expectations in English and maths. Events such as the careers fayre are the perfect vehicles to open pupils’ eyes to the opportunities that are available to them in the future. I would really like to thank A&R Consultants for making this happen.“
A&R Consultants alongside Torre C of E Academy would like to thank the following local businesses for their time and support: Torquay United, Riviera Pools, Eales & Baker, Absolute Sales & Lettings, South Devon College; plus a social worker, a lecturer at the University of Exeter and a representative from the Cabinet Office.
Alex Assaf from A&R Consultants confirmed: “The careers fayre provided a great opportunity for all children to explore their careers aspirations; believing in themselves and their future in the world of business. It was fantastic to see how many children were interested by the idea of working within the Civil Engineering industry.”
